In today’s retail and restaurant environment where costs continue to increase and top-line sales can be challenged, the need to ensure optimization of capital spend is critical. The use of experienced development resources can improve the return on investment through targeting the most viable areas, securing optimal sites, negotiating the most favourable leases and reducing time and cost in construction.

 

With a constant eye to the bottom line, even when there’s an intent to grow or transform, both small franchisors and franchisee organizations are often reluctant to invest in true development expertise on a full-time basis. Instead they rely on their leadership or team members with other functional responsibilities to establish and drive the execution of development plans on an ad-hoc basis.

 

Beyond Development Group gives organizations the opportunity to contract development expertise at the level of dedication necessary to meet their current goals. A contracted resource allows organizations the flexibility to adjust their investment as needed over time. A development focused resource allows other team members the opportunity to drive success in their own areas of expertise while development plans are executed with priority.

 

OUR FOUNDER

Beyond Development Group Founder and Principal, Clare Nishikawa, has more than eight years of experience leading franchise development in Canada and the US for Pizza Hut. This experience led her to identify a gap in franchisees' development resources and the challenge her franchisees would have in employing a full-time Chief Development Officer and development team. Looking at it from the franchisor’s perspective, she also saw regular frustration at the corporate level when the best-laid plans and franchisee development agreements fell short of delivery. Both challenges culminated in the creation of Beyond Development Group to address the immediate needs within the world's largest pizza chain, and subsequently those same issues plaguing other retail concepts.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Beyond Development Group brings significant experience to the table. While there are plenty of organizations that specialize in elements of the development process, very few support the full range nor provide the ‘internal’ resources to drive the engagement and leadership of these external organizations. BDG represents the franchisees or the franchisor as if they were a member of the team with the client’s goals as their guiding light. As a smaller organization, BDG has the ability to fully integrate themselves into any organization, providing direction and execution at very reasonable costs.
